Jeremy & Brooke Cook
The Cook family moved to Corvallis in 2017, desiring to spend time getting acquainted with their city and culture before planting a church. They spent those months well, acclimating their large family to the northwest, developing relationships, serving in various outreaches, joining local soccer and art clubs, having neighborhood parties, and sharing the story of how Christ changed their lives and called them in faith to Corvallis. Along this journey, in the summer of 2018, they had a crazy idea and started a food truck business called Memphis Beats. God has given great favor in it! They serve slow smoked BBQ and soul food, with a slogan of "Feed your soul!" Opportunities have abounded to attract a crowd and meet many people, get invited places, invest back in the city, build trust and relationships, and develop street credibility in their context at a quick pace. The food truck has torn down barriers in conversations with people and has rolled out the red carpet in places that are normally tough to get into, like schools and serving food in public parks. They can serve people’s tangible needs, while building trust with hopes to invest more for their souls in the future. Praise God for His great wisdom in providing this platform of outreach and connection to the community!
Jeremy and Brooke came to faith in Christ in 2001, at the ages of 24 and 22. Shortly after they were married, and within the first year found out they were expecting their first child. While never thinking they would have six wonderful kids, they have been blessed beyond measure, and now have Berakah, Beraiah, Judah, Jesaiah Joash, Benjamin, and Cedar Caspian.
